The World Health Organization – Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test (WHO-ASSIST) is an 8-item questionnaire that measures an individual’s use of alcohol, tobacco products, and other drugs across his/her lifetime and in the past 3 months.
ITEM CODING
Item 1 requires a “yes”/”no” response while items 2-8 are scored on a scale from 1 to 5):
1 = Never
2 = Once or twice
3 = Monthly
4 = Weekly
5 = Daily or almost daily
